Discover Normandy, a land of nature, heritage and traditions
Welcome to Normandy, an authentic region where unspoiled landscapes, history, and traditional skills intertwine.
We are in the Cotentin and Bessin Marshes Regional Natural Park, the area where we live. This vast wetland, one of the most remarkable in France, offers a unique landscape where a rich diversity of flora and fauna thrives. Nature lovers can observe birds in the Beauguillot Reserve or admire the protected landscapes of the Baie des Veys.
Normandy is also characterized by its bocage, a true landscape signature of the region. Composed of a network of hedgerows, embankments, and meadows, it has structured and shaped the landscape for centuries. This living heritage provides a verdant and preserved environment, promotes biodiversity, protects the soil, and contributes to the rural identity of Normandy. Along the roads and paths, this landscape of enclosed fields and valleys gives the region all its charm and authenticity.
It's impossible to talk about Normandy without mentioning the majestic Mont-Saint-Michel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that fascinates visitors from all over the world.
Normandy is also a land of livestock farming and traditions, renowned for its horse breeds and cattle. It boasts the city of Saint-Lô, considered the horse capital. Its agricultural expertise is exemplified by the famous Norman dairy breed and the Isigny Sainte-Mère Cooperative, known for its exceptional products.
At the tip of the Cotentin Peninsula, Cherbourg captivates visitors with its vast harbor, one of the largest in the world, and its naval port, whose origins date back to the works undertaken under Louis XIV. Further south, Granville, a former privateering town, reveals its maritime charm, its ramparts, and its history deeply connected to the sea.
Hiking enthusiasts can explore the GR® 223 trail, also known as the "Customs Officers' Path," which follows the Normandy coastline and offers spectacular panoramas, particularly in the Hague region. The Val-de-Saire, with its verdant landscapes and bucolic villages like Barfleur, listed among the most beautiful villages in France, invites relaxation and exploration.
Further west, the Cotentin-La Hague Geopark, recognized by UNESCO, reveals wild landscapes shaped over hundreds of millions of years. Its impressive cliffs, moors, and panoramic sea views make it an exceptional place for nature and geology enthusiasts.
Finally, heritage lovers shouldn't miss Hambye Abbey, a superb example of medieval architecture nestled in a verdant setting. And to discover the region's festive and agricultural spirit, don't miss the Sainte-Croix Fair in Lessay, one of the oldest and largest fairs in France. Every year, it draws thousands of visitors to celebrate Norman traditions, local produce, livestock farming, and the convivial atmosphere that has made it famous since the Middle Ages.
Between unspoiled nature, historical heritage, agricultural traditions and maritime landscapes, Normandy offers a multitude of discoveries and promises an authentic stay, rich in wonder.

Publié sur Tripadvisor kunfushussvérifié Great museum Great museum discussing the Normandy invasion, not just Utah beach. Many artifacts worth seeing - army vehicles, planes, and landing craft, many historical maps showing intended landing positions, captured Nazi memorabilia - along with a short video. Beach access nearby, but the beach itself is not particularly interesting. Aanrader!Publié sur Tripadvisor Ronald Svérifié Great museum Fantastic museum. The staff were really helpful (and helped us reorganise a disastrous start to our day). Strongly recommend.Publié sur Tripadvisor TK9975vérifié Ergreifend Sehr gut aufgearbeitete Geschichte! Great museum Amazing museum on the beach with huge collection of WW2 items. Built on a former German bunker. A must see if you are in Normandy!Publié sur Tripadvisor emuslushyvérifié Moving museum I found my visit to this museum to be memorable and moving. Located so close to Utah Beach, that one of the exhibits was a glass panel looking at a gun placement that had been covered by the sand for a number of years, before being uncovered (I think by the building of the museum). Incorporating this into the museum shows the level of respect held. There were many exhibitis, with lots of information, so you really do have to take your time if you want to read it all. But it is worth it. As an aviation enthusiast, it was very interesting to see the Marauder and the level of preservation in this was great to see. The entry cost was very reasonable. One point of note, there is no air con, so it did get really quite hot, but well worth it. Make sure you visit the statues and memorials outside on the beach and near it afterwards. Publié sur Tripadvisor Linda Mvérifié An Amazing Museum and Historical Site The Museum with its location on Utah Beach was such a great combination of a way to learn more about history as well as a way to honor those that served and sacrificed for our freedom!! The location added to the intensity of the experience - the artifacts, movie, pictures and stories of the planning and execution of this portion of D-Day was so well done - thank you to the town and French country that made this Museum possible and their work to preserve our history and honor the memory of all those served ❤️❤️❤️Charger plus
